Not only does Prey have you navigating the uncharted watrers of big picture mode but for me following your advice i still have no success. When i use the controller support only the right stick allows me to move the in-game cursor during menus and my character in game, like a mouse, thats it.

When i follow your instructions and force off turning off controller support to enable controller support, love it it just doesnt work. It's sad because the controller configuration shows it having the buttons correctly mapped to actions, but it just doesnt work out in reality.
